Hello, 3 years ago I managed to get seedlings of Pseudocydonia and Chaenomeles from seed with the following easy procedure:
-Whait until autumn or winter.
-put soil into small pots.
-put seeds on the soil.
-put some soil on the seeds (0,5-1cm)
-put some water to the soil, to get it somewhat moist.
-put the pot in a clear plastik-bag and close the bag as good as possible (in order not to loose any moisture in spring.)
-put the pots in plastic-bags somewhere, it may get temperatures below 0°C, so I put it outside the window of my flat.
-forget about the pots until about april
-then, wonder, that all the seeds have been germinated...
-put everyone into a single pot or in a place in your garden...
So, this is just the easy way, germinating worked here in Austria for seeds that need a cold stratification, e.g. Sorbus, Cydonia, Pseudocydonia, Chaenomeles, etc...
